Our Ministries & Church Activities
At Queen Street we have built up our ministries and activities to accommodate most aspects of church family, from youth clubs to over 50’s meals. The church is used regularly but we would love to see more going on, whether it be church activities or local organisations using the buildings.
A week in the life of Queen Street Baptist Church

In addition, for many years we have been involved with a few local outreach projects, which serve those closest to the church. One is local sheltered accommodation where we conduct an evening service once a month and regularly invite residents to an over 50’s meal at the church. Another project we support is ‘The Ark’ – a local Christian café and bookshop.
Over the past decade we have looked outside our comfort zone of ‘church’ and engaged with outside organisations to support and establish new provisions for the local community. This has led to projects including Foodbank, which runs two sessions a week from the church building.
We are very proud to call ourselves a family and as such we enjoy several events each year that brings us together in fellowship. Each June we celebrate our anniversary with a special Sunday service which includes a bring and share lunch. We also organise an annual church holiday for the older members of the church and a beach outing for all. As a church we also take part in Operation Christmas Child and last year collected over 100 boxes.
Mission Team: We are a group of six church members, lead by a Deacon. We meet once a month for discussion about mission programmes and events for the church and the wider community. The role of our team is to shape and oversee the overall mission purpose and strategy of our church both locally and globally.
- Evangelism:
- Prayer Walk and prayer breakfast are organised every quarter. This is open to every church member
- Utilising the ‘Big Welcome’ campaign in which a church member invites a ‘non-church goer’ to one of our events such as our Harvest Festival
- Activities during the Christmas season and the Watch-night Service
2. Within the Church:
- An annual Rogation Service promotes the work of Home Mission. A special collection is made in support of this.
- A walk through the Old and New Testament
- Harvest Service; our proceeds go to the Foodbank
3. Mission Link:
- We are linked through prayer and e-mails to our missionary workers Liz and Segoh Villeha and family in Mazambique.

Worship Group: Ps 34: 3 says “O magnify the Lord with me and let us exalt His name together”
Our motto: Together we celebrate God’s presence in worship
Our core values in worship is to put God first on our lives. It’s just not singing or playing an instrument. Worship is a life style that focuses on God and pleasing Him
The group consist of five regular singers including Pastor Ronnie, one pianist, a flute player and a drummer. Each week one of the worship member is responsible for selecting songs that fit the theme of the sermon. In future we hope to have training courses on the topic of worship leading and singing. We are trying to cater for a broad section of attenders at QSBC. There is a need to provide flexibility in various styles of worship so that each individual is catered for and feel able to join in worship properly
Ms Bosede Kirkpatrick is our main link to arrange the names and list for the month of each individual in the team. However, since COVID virus, we have not been able to join in once a week rehearsals at the moment and we are equally looking forward to including some of our young people in the team in the near future
Children and Young People (CYP) Team (aka Sunday Club)
Our ministry covers children from babies to age 17 and is led by volunteers from within the church with a desire to bring the message of Jesus to the children in fun and creative ways.
To enable us to cater appropriately for the children we have the following groups:

Most groups use Scripture Union literature to lead the groups in addition to other material from a variety of sources.
The groups meet on Sunday, leaving just before the main sermon to go to their various sessions. Revelation, at times, remain to receive communion during Communion Services, before leaving for their session in the church hall.
With the exception of the crèche, each group averages 11 children per week.
The latter two meet fortnightly on alternative Monday evenings in the Church Hall.
Family Service (every second Sunday): Sunday Club is looking to have more involvement in the Family Service. We currently have a part on the Order of Service for a prayer/poem/piece of scripture read by one of the children.
Christian Celebrations/Observations: To encourage the children in their knowledge of Jesus and the Bible and applying his teaching to their lives we work with the children particularly at times of year such as Easter and Christmas to minister to the church through songs, short plays, poems etc. Again, this would usually be on the Family Service Sunday of that season.
CYP Leaders/Volunteers Meetings: We meet on the first Monday evening in the month to pray and discuss plans for further work, discuss the needs of the groups and any issues that may have arisen. Anything that needs further escalation to the Deaconate is communicated via the CYP Leader/Deacon.
DBS Checks/Safeguarding: CYP Group Volunteers all have to go through DBS checks and follow QSBC Safeguarding policies (the latter follows Baptist Union guidelines).
Foodbank: Queen Street, alongside Christchurch and St John’s CofE churches in Erith, set up a distribution centre at Queen Street in 2014, in partnership with Bexley Foodbank. Queen Street has continued to support this outreach work in the local community by supplying premises; storage; volunteers; pastoral care and donations. The distribution centre is open twice a week and is manned and managed entirely by volunteers.
Sessions include signposting visitors to external organisations for further advice & support. More recently we have been able to offer onsite counselling and referral to the local Christians Against Poverty group. We are also currently developing a relationship with Cornerstone, a Christian support organisation for those with dependencies.
In the last year Queen Street have helped over 1,800 local people in crisis, averaging 30 families a week. Last Christmas Queen Street helped over 33 families during one session and provided over 50 breakfasts. We have seen some of our visitors become volunteers and an encouraging number freed from various dependencies & begin to get their lives back on track.
